Karen is a state registered dietitian based in London providing online consultations. She has a special interest in Food Allergy and has completed the Masters Degree in Allergy at the University of Southampton. Karen has been seeing patients with Food Allergy in the UK, Singapore and South East Asia since 2005.
Appointments take place mainly online, using a secure platform ensuring confidentiality of your information is maintained. A face to face appointment can be scheduled where necessary and home visits within the West London area can also be arranged where needed.
Karen completed her degree in Dietetics and Nutrition in Scotland and worked in the UK for many years before moving to Singapore. Karen founded The Food Clinic in 2005 in Singapore, a Dietetic Practice providing advice mainly to families living with food allergy. Karen worked closely with Allergists and Gastroenterologists in Singapore and throughout South East Asia and was the Allergy dietitian at the Women's and Children's Hospital in Singapore. She continues to mentor dietitians working in allergy in Asia.
Karen moved back to the UK in 2018 and has been working in the NHS in allergy and research and is now able to see patients privately.
Karen has a special interest in food allergy and intolerances and completed the MSc Allergy at the University of Southampton in 2021. She was awarded the AAIR Holgate Award for Excellence in Allergy from the University of Southampton and also the British Society of Allergy and Immunology Anthony Frew Award for Excellence in Education in 2021.
Karen has also completed the Newcastle University Allergy Module, accredited by the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and endorsed by the British Dietetic Association (BDA), as well as the short courses run by Imperial College London in Allergy.
Karen teaches on the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) Paediatric Allergy Training Courses and the British Dietetic Association Cow's Milk Allergy Course. She has spoken at International Allergy Conferences and published articles related to allergy in children.
Karen is joint chair of the British Dietetic Association Food Allergy Specialist Group and also the Education Officer for the group. She is a member of the British Society of Allergy and Immunology Allergy Education Network project which aims to guide strategic developments around allergy education in the UK.
Choosing the right person to seek help and advice from can sometimes be a confusing task. Many people claim to be experts in nutrition yet have very limited knowledge and offer no protection to the public.
